Please contact the support team if your account is enabled with any of the following

  • Register Automation
  • Multiple Pricebooks
  • Multiple stores with different pricing
  • Prices are inclusive of taxes


Please follow the below steps to update the GST. 


Login with your admin account


Delete existing GST Taxes

  1. Click on Settings and select Payments & Taxes
  2. Click on Edit for the GST taxes to be deleted
  3. Click on Delete to delete the taxes


Create a new Tax Type as per the GST rule:

  1. Click on Settings and select Payments & Taxes
  2. Click on Add New Tax Type.
  3. Fill up the details (ex: Tax Name: CGST; Tax Percentage: 2.5) and click on Add (Create 2 tax types as CGST and SGST)


Create a new Tax Group

  1. Click on Settings and select Payments & Taxes
  2. Click on Add New Tax Group
  3. Create a name for your Tax Group as GST 5%
  4. Select the taxes under the GST group (SGST, CGST, & Service charge if applicable)
  5. Click on Add to complete adding the tax group

NOTE: If you have service charge, please contact Shoptree Support


Export existing product list

  1. Click on Products and select Products 
  2. Click on the arrow mark next to Add New Product
  3. Click on Export Products. Your complete product list will be downloaded. (Please download 2 copies of your product list and change the tax in any one sheet and have the other sheet as backup)


Update the GST tax to your products

  1. Open the downloaded product list sheet.
  2. If you have column names with the word "Pricebook" mentioned please do not proceed with the change. Contact Shoptree Support immediately
  3. In the tax_name column, change the existing tax to the newly created tax group (GST 5%). Make sure the name matches GST 5% in both places (creating tax group and this excel sheet) (GST should not be charged to Water Bottle, Packing Charge, Delivery Charge).
  4. Remove the tax percentages from the tax_percentage column. Make sure you leave the tax_percentage column blank
  5. Save or Export the file in the same .csv format


Import the product list

  1. Click on Products and select Products from the dropdown
  2. Click on the arrow mark next to the Add New Product button and select Import products
  3. Select the edited product list file and click on Import  (Make sure you don't select any stores while importing)
  4. Make sure you have internet connection and reload the billing screen for the changes to get updated

NOTE: We won't be having a backup of your product list. Please make sure you update the list without any errors. If you need any clarifications in importing the sheet, please reach our support team


This completes updating the GST taxes to your account.
